Macaca, a Cute Monkey Found in Pusuk Forest

Diposkan oleh Admin on Minggu, 24 Februari 2013

We got a very cute pictures from our friend. He captured a couple of different expressions of monkey found in Pusuk forest or also called as Pusuk Pass, North Lombok. There are two species of monkey can be mainly found in West Nusa Tenggara, Macaca fasicularis and Tracypithecus auratus. Macaca fasicularis is a dominant species.

We have posted before about Pusuk Pass in North Lombok. This is a transit point before reaching any tourism destinations in North Lombok, including Rinjani Mountain and Gili Trawangan.

If you are lucky enough, you can find them, the monkeys along way in the side street of Pusuk Pass. Some people will just stop by and hand them a banana or nut. You can take picture and see how they interact within each other.

Enjoy these pictures!

Kerta Gangga Waterfall

Diposkan oleh Admin

In North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, we can find many waterfalls. One of them is Kerta Gangga waterfall. The waterfall is located in between two villages, Gangga village and Kerta Raharja village. It takes one and half hours drive from Mataram (capital city) to the waterfall. It takes another 7-15 kms to get there from the main road. The good thing is you can enjoy sightseeing and meet local people while driving. Isn't it great?

The unique thing about Kerta Gangga waterfall is, there are three waterfalls in the same location. Just like a stairs, there are 2 waterfalls upstairs which connected by the bamboo bridge. The other one is in downstairs.

Other than that, we can also see a green view surrounding the waterfall, with the big rocks to climb. However, Kerta Gangga is much smaller compared to any waterfalls in North Lombok, like Singang Gila waterfall in Senaru. We would personally categorize it as a virgin waterfall, like Timponan waterfall in West Lombok. The clean water and fresh air will really make you fall in love with this waterfall. Since it is not so touristy, it is recommended for those who want to experience peaceful and quiet place to visit.

Enjoy!

Diposkan oleh Admin on Sabtu, 23 Februari 2013

Hi fellas, how's everything going? We hope you all are doing well.

In this post, we'll be sharing about cultural ceremony on circumcision. In some religious beliefs, circumcision is a part of male's life phase. Usually, males get the circumcision in a very young age. People say, the younger they are, the easier it gets done. But, we are not going to talk about any religious aspect of circumcision.

People celebrate the circumcision of their children in such a unique way. Most people will held a party, and invite their families, relatives, and friends. In some parts of West Nusa Tenggara, people celebrate it in a luxurious way. The children who have gotten the circumcision will be treated like a king and paraded around the village. People will dress up in a traditional clothes. Traditional dress for women in Lombok is usually in black color, even for a men. I f you are interested in cultural event, you'll also love to know about Nyongkolan, marriage traditional ceremony in Lombok.

Traditional Market

Diposkan oleh Admin on Minggu, 18 November 2012

It has been a while since we left this blog without any new post. Here, we come back again, yayy!

One of the unique thing that can be found in Indonesia is a traditional market. It is everywhere, in each province, for sure we have many traditional markets in Nusa Tenggara. Nusa Tenggara is not only known for its natural beaches, like Tanjung Aan in Lombok or Gili Sunut in East Lombok, it also offers plenty of cultural events and traditional things to be enjoyed. One of those enjoyable experience when you visit Nusa Tenggara is exploring the traditional market.

Why traditional? There are some reasons for it to be called traditional:

1. Everything is fresh.
You can find anything such as vegetables, fishes, cakes, meals, etc. All of those stuffs are fresh from the oven. The vegetables are brought by the farmer from the garden, the fish are caught form the ocean.

2. Chance to bargain
When the seller mentions the price of things you want to buy, don't be deliberately agree with that. You have a chance to do bargaining! Ask them to sell the products in a cheaper price. You need to know first the standard price of the product so you won't pay higher than normal price.

3. Buy as much as you want
Since there is no packaging for the products, you can buy them as much as you need them. Pssttt, it can be so cheap!

4. See the people!
It is a perfect time for you to meet a lots of kind of people. Taking picture must be great idea!

Here are some cool pictures for you!

Gili Sunut in East Lombok

Diposkan oleh Admin on Selasa, 19 Juni 2012

West NusaTenggara is well known for its natural tourism. Eventough so many things need to be fixed to let tourist can enjoy the place in a better way. Lombok especially has many small islands, some even haven't been explored yet. And now, we'll come with one of those small island which has not been explored yet namely Gili Sunut. (Gili means small island).

Gili Sunut is located in southern part of East Lombok. Approximately abbout 80 kms from main city, Mataram. To get to Gili Sunut , we don't go through paved roads but mostly trail. That's why sometimes it's not suggested to come here in rainy season, because it could be a slippery road. The trip will end up on a hill and we have to park the vehicle over this hill and then walk to the Gili Sunut. But of course we couldn't walk everytime we come there, it can only be done when the conditions of sea water is receding so the sand will be seen and can be passed. Usually the water is receding from morning until late afternoon.

Some people also come here for more than just enjoying the beautiful scenery. They come to stay over the Gili and sleep over at the house of local residents. Most residents work as fishermen. The people is so genuine and friendly, the other reason why some people love to visit this small island. We guess it will take a quit long time to promote this island to be well known as Gili Trawangan or Gili Nanggu. Opps, even one of our friend ever said Gili Sunut is the best small island he ever visited in Lombok. Enjoy the pictures!!

Diposkan oleh Admin on Kamis, 31 Mei 2012

Hello all!!
Let's talk about old site, we mean, weren't talking about beach, small island, or whatever like we've posted previously. We're gonna talk about 'NARMADA PARK' which is an old site from the legacy of the King of Mataram.

Now a days, Narmada is popular as park. Everyone is coming in weekend to enjoy the green scenery, sometimes swimming or just eating local culiner, like satay. But now, let's talk a bit about Narmada Park. Narmada is at about 10 kilometers from Mataram. It's located in Lembuak village in West Lombok. Area of the park is approximately two acres and was built by the King of Mataram Lombok, Anak Agung Gede Ngurah in 1727.

Anak Agung Gede Ngurah built Narmada as a place for Pakelem ceremony, held every full moon Caka in October-November. This park was built to resemble the beauty of Rinjani Mountain which is used as the resting place of the king. There are some parts in Narmada, the main gate, jabalkap, telaga kembar, gapura gelang, mukedes, telaga padmawangi, balai loji, balai terang, patandaan, bangunan sakapat, balai bancingah, Pura Kelasa and Pura Lingsar.

For tourists who visit Narnada, they would aim to wash their face in Balai petirtaan. It is said that spring water from Mount Rinjani and is the meeting place of three sources of water that is Suranadi, Lingsar and Narmada. Water present in Balaipetirtaan is believed to make people who drink and wash their face will stay young. When testing the efficacy of water in Balai petirtaan, the water in the room of 5x5 meters was pretty cool. In the room there is a local religious leaders of Hindu pray for those who come. Women who are menstruating are forbidden to enter the hall, because it supposedly can be violated if possessed. If you take a walk to the back of Narmada area, you can also find a long huge pipes lied on. It was part that left from the king legacy.

As with other attractions, Narmada Park also provides some modern rides like flying fox , swimming pool, green pool and of course culinary place.
